If they aren't right I go back to tha CAD drawing and work on it and then try it again. What I found most helpful is to import a drawing dxf into Sheetcam and run "simulation" on the computer screen, to see if it runs properly.Īfter you've cut a few things with your machine, you'll know what Sheetcam files are supposed to look like. I've found hundreds of free dxf files online, many of them need a little modifying which is a good way to leard CAD, and I also just purchased a boatload of files from Sign Torch. I been using mine about a month now, and with help from this site, I'm getting better at creating, or at least modifying my own DXF files. I use Turbo Cad, it came with my machine, but I hear it's relatively cheap. That's all you need, other than a Cad Program to modify and create drawings.

Mach will not generate a G code file itself - it is a controller program to run the G code on your machine. You then import the G code file into Mach3 to operate the machine and cut your file. Thanks, Greg You then process the file and Sheetcam ouputs a G code file. I got all my stuff from Tom and everything has been working very well.
HOW TO CUT SINGLE LINES IN SHEETCAM LICENSE
Tom should give you the license for mach 3 but you will have to buy the license from sheet cam. Mach 3 is really only a control program however you can load DXF's directly in to it and it will generate its own g-code. Do i need one do run the other? But they both come with your stuff.

Post your questions or tips on SheetCam software in this topic. Dell monitor keeps going into power save modeĭraw your part the size you want and let SheetCam work out where to run the torch.Privacy Terms. SheetCam has many useful features for plasma, laser, waterjet and oxy-fuel cutting. Some examples of specialist posts include machines with multiple heads, say a plasma cutter with a pucnch marking head. This service is normally free unless the post is particularly complicated. Custom posts can be written to your specifications. The programming language used is versatile enough to cope with pretty much anything you could possibly want a machine to do. If you so wish you can create your own posts. Unlike many CAM packages the post format is freely available and documented. These can be fine-tuned to produce code for virtually any machine. To get over this, SheetCam comes with a wide variety of post processors. They can be flipped and rotated to make most efficient use of the material. SheetCam gives you many options to optimize cutting. Once you have defined you tool you can set up the cut. You can define as many tools as you like for different materials etc. The tool definition allows you define all of the important parameters for cutting. This is useful for machines running Mach3 for instance.

For machines that have full control over the Z axis you can program the pierce height and cut height directly.

SheetCam is suitable for milling, routing, plasma, waterjet, laser and oxy-fuel cutting. This increases consumable life and reduces faulty cuts due to blocked or obstructed nozzles Once you have defined you tool you can set up the cut.SheetCam is a low cost but feature packed CAM package. Instead of plunging straight in, the cutter torch can ramp in, reducing the amount of material blown back into the torch. Automatic cut ordering to ensure that inside contours are always cut before outside contours. Draw your part the size you want and let SheetCam work out where to run the torch. For anyone working with these types of machines, we're sure you can see the benefits the features of this CNC programming software will have for many different applications.Ĭall ezPlasma Today! Define Parameters The tool definition allows you define all of the important parameters for cutting. To prevent corner rounding, the corners can be looped. SheetCam automatically works out the holes are inside so it reverses the cut direction for these features.Īs the small holes are too small to fit a full sized lead in and lead out, the leads are reduced in size to fit.
